That’s one of MEND’s tenants’ deeply appreciative words. Because we cherish the confidentiality of those we serve, let’s call her “Madeline.”

Madeline came to MEND back in the summer of 2004. A single parent, Madeline was having a difficult time making ends meet. You could sense right from the start her commitment to living in a nice, safe environment, to provide a loving home for her son.

Due to the support of generous friends just like you, six months after applying, MEND found her the home she was searching for … at our Baylor Arms location, in Moorestown, right near downtown. Close to her son’s school, too.

That’s Madeline again, describing her new home as a place to grow, to thrive. You … you helped make this success story happen.

MEND is an award-winning affordable housing manager and developer dedicated to providing safe, affordable rental homes to individuals, senior citizens, people with disabilities, and families of low to moderate income. MEND has developed over 700 residential units at 31 locations in southern New Jersey.

For 55 years, MEND’s affordable housing efforts have represented a $150 million real estate investment in our region. Currently, we provide affordable, safe rental homes to over 1,000 individuals, an accomplishment only possible because generous friends like you step up, pitch in, and make it your priority.

These are Madeline’s views of what MEND offers. MEND’s affordable rent enabled Madeline to save for the future. That future included purchasing a home of her own.

You see, her MEND experience provided her with the time to make this life-changing leap. In fact, if MEND hadn’t been there for her – if you hadn’t been there for her – Madeline would not be in the position she is today. MEND gave Madeline and her son the space to dream, to save, and to plan.

Here’s the pay-it-forward part … Madeline’s son flourished at school. After graduating from college, he moved to Costa Rica. His focus? Environmental engineering, sustainable energy, green infrastructure; fields of work that help to ensure that future generations inherit a healthier, more sustainable, and resilient world.

Here’s Madeline once again: “The security of an affordable and comfortable living arrangement eliminates a lot of the stress of constantly trying to stay afloat. Instead, you can focus on enjoying your life and other important things like family, friends, and school.”
