MEND Appoints Mary Flick to Friends of MEND, Inc. Board of Trustees

MOORESTOWN, NJ (February 25, 2020) – Moorestown Ecumenical Neighborhood Development, Inc. (MEND) has appointed Mary Flick, RN to the Friends of MEND, Inc. Board of Trustees.

The Friends of MEND is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) corporation founded for the exclusive purpose of supporting MEND’s affordable housing mission in southern New Jersey by helping MEND obtain charitable contributions. In 2005, Friends of MEND, Inc. started an Endowment Fund for the long-term benefit of MEND.

New CEO Search Underway

MOORESTOWN, NJ The Moorestown Ecumenical Neighborhood Development, Inc. (MEND) announced today that Matthew Reilly, who joined MEND in 2001, will retire from his position as President and CEO effective April 17, 2020. Reilly will remain with the organization after retirement on a part-time basis to assist with the leadership transition process and to oversee new housing development opportunities.

Former MEND Chairperson Max Fisher Named Moorestown Citizen of the Year

Max Fisher will be bestowed the great honor of Moorestown Citizen of the Year by the Moorestown Service Clubs for his years of service as a volunteer firefighter and former chairperson of MEND. The award will be presented on February 5, 2020 at the Moorestown Community House.

Fisher was unanimously selected by the Moorestown Service Clubs (Breakfast and Lunch Rotary, and Lions) for this year’s award, which recognizes special individuals in Moorestown who have demonstrated great leadership and selfless through their volunteer work and dedication to the community.

Making an Impact on New Jersey’s Affordable Housing Market

For the past 30 years, MEND has been a proud member of the Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey (HCDNNJ), a statewide association that supports the creation of housing and economic opportunities for low-to-moderate-income communities. To mark their 30th anniversary, the HCDNNJ released its 2019 economic impact study, “Thriving Together,” to show how non-profit community development corporations (CDCs) contributed to the success of New Jersey’s economy from 2014 to 2019. The numbers are staggering.
